The dissolved executive of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State said on Sunday that it had compiled a list of delegates arising from a delegates congress it held on Saturday across the state and would forward it to Abuja.
But the list is different from the one arising from the congresses conducted by the Caretaker Committee set up by the National Working Committee and monitored by observers from the national headquarters of the party.
Chairman of the dissolved executive, Ebenezer Alabi, said it held its parallel congresses in line with the rules and guidelines of the party and would forward the outcome to the national headquarters of the party.
“We did our own congresses and we have our list which we will send to Abuja. We are happy that there was no rancour. It was peaceful, even though they held their own congress different from our own,” Alabi said.
The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Dare Adeleke, told reporters on Saturday that the congress went on smoothly and would reflect the wishes of the generality of the party membership.
When asked about the parallel congress of the old PDP, Adeleke said, “Anybody can play God but we all know where God is. There is no other congress anywhere and you can see for yourself.”
