The Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, has said the challenges confronting the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party will lead to the unity among members of the party.
Akinmade said this in Akure on Thursday while speaking with journalists, adding that Governor Olusegun Mimiko has made enough sacrifice for the party to make its members united.
He said the magnanimity of the governor to share political positions with the ‘old’ PDP members in an agreeable formula was commendable.
He added that it was a pointer to the fact that whatever challenges that may be confronting the party in terms of agitation from some members would fizzle out in no time.
He said, “Despite the agitation in the party at the moment, I am sure the PDP will come out a larger, united and virile party.
“The moves of the leader of the party in the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has, since his re-joining the party, demonstrated his willingness to carry every along, and that he exhibited with the sharing of positions between the ‘old’ Labour party and the ‘old’ members.”
Akinmade, who called on those who are aggrieved in the party to join hands with the leadership of the party to make it excel, said the opposition waiting to latch in on the challenges facing the party would be disappointed.
He said the party had grown from strength to strength since the merger.
Akinmade said it was not unusual to have some disaffection any time a change was being made in any organisation.
He said, “Since the change is for the good of all and, more especially, Mr. Governor, being the harbinger of the change, has demonstrated enough sincerity of purpose
“It is obvious that every aggrieved person will see the positivity of the new order and team up with other members to grow the party.”
Akinmade said with Mimiko’s defection to the PDP alongside his teeming supporters, the party has, no doubt, become the envy of all.
