How We Defeated Jonathan – Tinubu

 LAGOS — ALL Progressives Congress, APC, leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, yesterday, attributed the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential election to a commonsense revolution anchored on a rebellion against the excesses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He spoke at a book launch in Lagos where Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka extolled him, and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State as the drivers of the uprising, which he said, was fast-tracked by President Jonathan’s mishandling of the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF crisis.

Zoning of National Assembly offices: APC leaders' meeting end in deadlock

A meeting of top members of APC convened to resolve all disagreements bordering on the zoning of top offices in the incoming National Assembly ended in a deadlock on at the Rivers state Governors lodge Abuja on Wednesday April 22nd.

According to Vanguard, the meeting came to a deadlock after the leaders failed to reach a consensus on where to zone the office of the speaker of the House of Representatives. The members were divided between zoning it to the North-East and South-West. The leaders however agreed on the zoning of the office of Senate President to the North-Central and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, to the South-East.

Impeachment: No Escape Route For Fayose – APC Elders

The Elders’ Forum in the Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has declared that there is no escape route for the state Governor Ayo Fayose in the impeachment process initiated by 19 members of the state House of Assembly. The body said Fayose has serially breached the Constitution, desecrated the esteemed office he occupies and should be ready to face the consequences of his actions.
The Publicity Secretary of Ekiti APC Elders Forum, Dr. Bayo Orire, who made the group’s position known on Tuesday, also warned the military and the police against being used to hinder the lawmakers from carrying out their constitutional functions.

A pressure group in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Democratic Coalition (EDC) has hailed the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, accusing the sacked IGP of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert the mandate of Ekiti people freely given to Governor Ayodele Fayose. 

Reacting to the sack of Suleiman Abba, EDC, in a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Boladale Adeniyi, alleged that the sacked IGP and the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the State, Taiwo Lakanu aided the APC lawmakers in their evil plot to remove Governor Fayose.

IMF Advices Nigeria To Remove All Forms Of Fuel Subsidy

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday stated that the current drop in oil prices offers a unique opportunity for Nigeria and seven other oil-producing countries in Africa to implement politically difficult oil subsidy reforms.

IMF’s Director for African Development, Antoinette Sayeh who made the submissions at a press conference in Washington DC, United States of America at the ongoing IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings, added that in the short run, dealing with oil shock should be the priority.

Removal of oil subsidy in Nigeria and other African countries has been a very sensitive and controversial issue.

The IMF said although the eight African oil exporting countries would be hard hit with generally limited fiscal and external pressure, they are expected to undertake significant fiscal adjustment, which will ultimately dent their growth outlook.

Fayose to know fate at Supreme Court today

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state will today know his fate as the Supreme court will be delivering judgement on the petition filed by the APC challenging his victory at the June 21 2014 governorship election. Nigerian Navy Kills One, Arrests Two For Disrupting Elections In Ondo

Officers attached to the Ondo State Naval Command on Saturday shot dead a hoodlum who disrupted the House of Assembly election in Ilaje area of the State, while two others were also apprehended and handed over to the police.
It was gathered that the alleged suspects on sighting a naval patrol team opened fire and in their defence, the patrol team fired back, leading to the arrest of one of the men.
Items recovered from the suspects include, seven pump action guns, some ammunition and ballot boxes.
